As a System Director of Laboratory, you will play a critical role in continuing the healing mission of Deaconess. Job Overview: This position has responsibility for planning, supervising, and coordinating activities of the Health System Laboratories and its staff to assure quality technical services, financial accountability and compliance with policies and procedures for quality patient care. Assures competency of all personnel. Maintains efficient and effective department operations while requiring compliance with all accrediting bodies, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the overall operation of the System Laboratory Service Line. Ensures compliance with patient care, quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from neonate to geriatric. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates quality improvement activities. Assures competency of all personnel. Responsible for budget preparation and maintaining fiscal responsibility, including asset management across Deaconess Health System. Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education:
Three or more years of management experience in the clinical laboratory with multiple hospital lab expereince desired.
Must possess effective management and good communication skills.
Must understand the use and limitations of diagnostic instruments and specific functions.
Must be familiar with all department methods and collection techniques.
Considerable initiative and judgment involved in managing personnel and overall workflow.
Must be able to work independently and make decisions under pressure while following professional standards and hospital policies.
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university with MT-ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.
